Source: hancinema

K-pop idols 2PM have claimed the No. 2 spot on Japan's prestigious Oricon DVD chart with their latest DVD release.

The boys' first DVD titled "Hottest~2PM 1st Music Video Collection & The History~", which was released today, came in second place on the daily Oricon DVD chart as of Monday.

"We are happy to hear such great news about 2PM and we want to thank the fans for already supporting the group", an official from JYP Entertainment (JYPE) was quoted as saying, adding that the boys will prepare the best for their upcoming showcase.

Meanwhile, their agency JYPE has arranged several events to promote the DVD in the country including opening a 2PM Cafe, where fans can listen to their songs, and a preview showcase at OPUS of the Sony Building to see their music videos and never-before-seen clips of the boys.

2PM had already taken over the top five spots on Japan's popular mobile music chart Recochuku last week with hit songs "Without U", "Heartbeat", "Again & Again", "My Life 4 U" and "10 Out of 10".

2PM, composed of members Nichkhun, Wooyoung, Junho, Chansung, Junsu and Taecyeon, will hold their first official showcase titled "2PM 1ST CONTACT IN JAPAN" on December 8 at The Kokugikan, a venue for holding sumo and martial arts tournaments.

They will also release their album "1:59PM" on the same date.

[News] 2PM achieves an “all-kill” on popular Japanese downloading site

Source: allkpop

The boys of 2PM are scheduled to hold a showcase titled “2PM 1ST CONTACT IN JAPAN” on December 8th in Tokyo and begin their Japanese promotions in 2011 with the release of their first official album, “1:59 PM,” which will include a brand-new track in Japanese. Even though their debut is still some time away, the boys are proving to be quite popular in Japan.

Recochoku is one of the most popular downloading sites for mobile phones in Japan and 2PM recently achieved an “all-kill” on their MV download ranking, taking all five spots from their top 5 chart.

Korean groups KARA and SNSD took the 6th, 7th, and 10th spots on the chart with J-pop artists Kobukuro, Perfume, and AKB48 placing 8th, 9th, and 11th respectively.

All six childhood photos of the powerful “beast idols”, 2PM, were recently compiled and released (to the shrieks of 2PM fangirls everywhere).

Contrasting tremendously with their current ultra-masculine images, these pictures take a step back to reveal the cute and cuddly sides of the boys.

The picture that’s generating the most laughter from fans is of maknae Chansung, who is seen leaning back on the stairs with his hair slicked back. Doesn’t he look like a mini-version of Psy?

Whose picture do you think is the cutest?

[News] 2PM reveals how they distribute their income

Source: allkpop

The members of 2PM discussed their income distribution on an episode of Mnet’s “Beatles Code.”

They stated, “We discussed the distribution and settled on it together. Profits made from CFs are divided fairly amongst each member, even if it’s in an individual CF.

However, for drama appearances, they revealed, “If Taecyeon appears in a drama alone, he gets all of the income from that for himself.

At one point, Nichkhun and Taecyeon were against the distribution, but later agreed that since we’re all working under the name of 2PM anyway, it’s best for us to share everything.

The episode will broadcast on November 11th.

[News] 2PM tackles the wilderness for 'Cass Beer'

Source: allkpop

Images of 2PM’s frolic in the mountains of Kangwon-do has been attracting the attention of netizens recently.

On the day before 2PM’s official comeback, the members hiked through a mountain and even fished in a lake for their dinner. Disregarding the cold weather completely, they flew into the waters, competing with one another to catch the largest fish. The group then ended their day of rough-and-tumble activities by hanging out ’round a camp fire and having an honest discussion about their comeback.

While it appears that the boys enjoyed themselves immensely, they were actually shooting a CF for ‘Cass Beer‘. Yet, one can hardly tell that they were shooting a CF, since their dynamic energy and genuine friendship caused the images to look quite natural.

A theater version of the advertisement – featuring Wooyoung’s adlibs and additional footage of 2PM drinking ‘Cass Beer’ with staff members – was also made.

[News] 2PM Wooyoung’s clothes worth 1.1 million won after one day

Source: allkpop

On November 9th, the ‘2010 Mnet Asian Music Awards‘ (MAMA) started a UNICEF charity auction on Gmarket, featuring items donated by various Korean artists such as 2PM, Big bang, SG Wannabe, Wonder Girls, Rain and more. All proceeds will go to the children who suffered from the flood in Pakistan.

All items started at 1000 won (approximately $1 USD), and some of the donated items include the purple dresses Wonder Girls wore during their “Nobody” performance on the 2008 MKMF, ‘Big Bang’ branded basketball shoes, Rain’s baseball cap, SG Wannabe’s baseball cap, scarf, books and more.

Within the items, it was 2PM Wooyoung’s item that has caught attention, bidding to 1.1 million won (approximately $1000 USD) in just one day. The item was the clothes Wooyoung wore on the last stage for “Heartbeat.”

The fans shared their thoughts on the event, saying, “I was surprised because the donated items were hard to find” and “The items are so valuable because they are personally signed by the artists.” The fans have also advertised the event via their personal twitters and facebooks.

MAMA expressed, “We want to thank all the singers who have participated in this event. We hope spread this warmth to all parts of Asia.

On the other hand, MAMA will take place on November 28th at the Venetian Hotel in Macau.

[News] CNN writes about Nichkhun and his journey from a shy boy in Thailand to K-pop star

Source: allkpop

CNN’s International website CNNGO put up a nice article earlier today about 2PM member Nichkhun and his journey / transformation from growing up in Thailand as a shy boy into a bona fide K-pop superstar.

Check out the article below:

When Thai-American youngster Nichkhun was approached by talent scouts asking if he wanted a shot at pop superstardom, he didn’t hesitate for a second.

“I was like, no!” he says. “I don’t even know who you guys are, you know? I didn’t know how to sing or dance. I was just like some shy little boy, so I was like, no way I’m doing this!”

Fortunately for K-Pop fans, the scouts, from legendary South Korean pop producer Jin-young Park’s company JYP Entertainment, persisted. Following a string of phone calls, a ramshackle audition took place outside a Starbucks in Los Angeles, where they had all been attending a South Korean cultural festival.

“They were like, sing something! So I sang something, and it was bad, and they were like, OK, this is not going to work. About three weeks later they called me back and said, ‘We’d like you to come to Korea and start training.’”

But Nichkhun’s unorthodox recruitment is far from the only thing setting this young pop sensation apart. In South Korea’s distinctly homogeneous entertainment industry, Nichkhun is that rarest of things: a foreigner.
