Leffler crash, A mechanical failure caused Jason Leffler's fatal race car crash last week, according to a New Jersey State Police report published Friday on the department's website.
Leffler, a 37-year-old former NASCAR driver, was killed during a sprint car race last week at Bridgeport Speedway in Swedesboro, N.J.
The police report concluded that a torsion stop broke off on Leffler's car. This caused part of the car's suspension to become lodged between the right-front wheel and the right steering arm, forcing the steering system to lock.
Without the ability to steer, Leffler spun 180 degrees out of Turn 4 before slamming into the outside concrete wall and overturning before the car eventually landed upright.
The report indicates that cars were averaging 135 mph and hitting speeds of 150 mph on the straightaways, though it didn't give an exact speed for Leffler's vehicle at the time of the crash.
An autopsy conducted last week determined Leffler died of blunt-force neck trauma.

Supermoon june 2013
Supermoon june 2013, Sunday's perigee full moon will be the closest and largest "supermoon" of the year 2013—a "super" supermoon. The best time to observe it is at moonset or at moonrise when it is near the horizon; and don't worry, it won't make you mad.
According to Live Science, Sunday's supermoon will reach its peak fullness at 7:32 a.m. EDT. EarthKy.org gives the time of peak fullness at different US time zones: 7:32 a.m. EDT, 6:32 a.m. CDT, 5:32 a.m. MDT and 4:32 a.m. PDT.
A supermoon is the coincidence of a full moon with the closest approach of the Moon to Earth on its elliptic orbit. The incident results in a relatively large apparent size of the Moon's disk as seen by observers on Earth.
Precisely, it is the full moon observed within 12 hours of the lunar perigee, that is, the point in the Moon's elliptic orbit which brings it closest to the Earth. At its closest approach to the Earth (perigee), the Moon is at a distance of about 225,622 miles or 363,104 kilometers, and 252,088 miles or 405, 696 kilometers from the Earth at its farthest, or apogee.
Sunday's supermoon will be the largest this year because it will fall closer to the time of the perigee than any other this year. According to EarthSky.com, the crest of Sunday's lunar full phase, and perigee, will fall within an hour of each other, about 22 minutes precisely.
A full moon will not come as close to the Earth as Sunday's until August 10, 2014. Another supermoon will be seen in July but will not be as close to Earth.
The term supermoon was not coined by astronomers but by an astrologer Richarch Nolle, who defined it as "a new or full moon which occurs with the moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit (perigee). In short, Earth, moon and sun are all in a line, with moon in its nearest approach to Earth."
You appreciate why people prefer the astrologer's term "supermoon" when you learn that astronomers call a "supermoon" the perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system.
The full moon observed at the Moon's closest approach (perigee) to Earth is 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than the full moon observed when the Moon is at its farthest point from Earth (apogee).
The distance between the Earth and the Moon varies because the Moon traces an elliptic orbital path around the Earth. An ellipse is a circle drawn out at opposite ends into an oval or "egg" shape. An elliptic orbit is defined technically as a Kepler orbit with eccentricity greater than zero and less than 1, where a "perfectly" circular orbit has an eccentricity of zero.
Sunday's supermoon will come two days after the summer solstice (Friday, June 21, 1:04 a.m. EDT), the longest day of the year in which the Sun reaches its farthest point north of the equator, marking the official beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere.
According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, North American farmers, following the tradition of native Algonquin tribes, refer to the full moon observed in June as the Full Strawberry Moon because June is the strawberry-harvesting season in the North America. In Europe it is known as the Full Rose Moon.
Although folklore links the supermoon with natural disasters such earthquakes and floods, scientists have found no evidence of a link between the full moon or supermoon and natural disasters such as Japan's earthquake and tsunami in 2011, and the sinking of the Titanic. According to scientists, the changes in gravitational attraction between the Earth and the Moon at lunar perigee is not enough to induce tectonic forces that could cause earthquakes, floods and tsunamis. However, people living along a coastline are advised to watch for higher-than-usual tides during the perigee.
Live Science reports that John Bellini, geophysicist at the US Geological Survey, said: "A lot of studies have been done on this kind of thing by USGS scientists and others. They haven't found anything significant at all."
The supposed link between human mental health and the supermoon is even more baffling from the scientist perspective of analysis of cause and effect. Live Science reports that a 1985 review of research published in the journal Psychological Bulletin, and a study in 2010, found no evidence (as expected!) that people tend to go "loony" during a supermoon. The study found no evidence of increased incidence of mental hospital admissions, homicides and crimes.
The traditional association of the supermoon with fertility has no scientific grounds, either. It appears that traditional cultures link full moons with fertility because of the coincidence of the cycle with the female menstrual cycle and the sickle shape of the waxing crescent which resembles the appearance of a developing fetus during pregnancy.

Planes near-miss nyc
Planes near-miss nyc, US aviation officials are investigating a near-collision between two jets in the skies over New York City.
On 13 June, a Delta Airlines Boeing 747 and a Shuttle America Embraer E170 came within 200ft (60m) vertically and half a mile (800m) horizontally from one another, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said.
Both planes landed safely.
US aviation regulations require planes to be 1000ft apart vertically or three miles horizontally.
About 14:40 local time on 13 June, the Delta plane was cleared to land at John F Kennedy (JFK) International Airport, but the pilot decided not to land, a standard procedure known as a "missed approach".
Meanwhile, the Shuttle America plane was departing from LaGuardia Airport about 10 miles (16km) away.
The planes were "turning away from each other at the point where they lost the required separation", the FAA said in a statement.
The FAA did not say how many people were aboard either plane.
The Shuttle America Embraer E170 can hold 69 passengers and the Delta Boeing 747 can hold 376.

Drake miami heat
Drake miami heat, Rapper Drake's plan to join Miami Heat's victory celebration in locker room failed when he was denied entry. The team won the NBA Championship title over the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, June 20. Drake, who apparently wanted to congratulate LeBron James and other team members, was denied entry by security guards as he attempted to enter alongside media.
"Drake was just stopped by security. He tried getting in the locker room without media pass," a HOOPSWORLD reporter tweeted, adding that Drake tried his luck by saying, "I am media." A Sun-Sentinel reporter also gave similar info. "I got in the locker room [and] Drake was denied access," the reporter wrote.
Although he was denied entry into the locker room, Drake joined the team in an afterparty which was held on Thursday night in South Beach. He performed his hit "Started From the Bottom" at the victory bash. Timbaland was said performing his tunes as well. Justin Bieber reportedly requested to join them, but the team and club management had to refuse because he was still underage.
"Everyone was having a terrific night celebrating. This was a family night, so nothing too crazy happened, but it was truly a night for celebrating," an eyewitness told E! News. The party reportedly continued until 7 A.M.
Miami Heat's star LeBron James discussed his friendship with the rapper in an interview with Yahoo! Sports in 2011. "What we have is real family. It's not just because we are successful at what we do. We really care about one another on a day-to-day basis. Anytime you get a friend that can come and support you in what you do, I really respect that," James said.

Border security deal
Border security deal, Yesterday we learned that two Senate Republicans have joined forces to revive the immigration legislation that’s wallowing in Congress due to inter-party bickering. Bob Corker of Tennessee and John Hoeven of North Dakota are calling their deal a “border surge.” As Lawrence Downes wrote on this blog, “This obviously calls to mind similar surges in harsh desert regions where the United States is deploying troops and drones.”
At a price tag of almost $30 billion, it would be similarly costly.
Regardless of where it’s going, $30 billion is a staggering figure. But Republicans want to use the money to almost double the size of an already robust Border Patrol, to 40,000 agents from 21,000. They want to add 700 miles of fencing. And for good measure, they plan to throw in some infrared ground sensors and thermal imaging cameras, along with a fleet of drones.
Given that these are not exactly boom times, recent investment in other projects of major national consequence has been seriously inadequate. Infrastructure spending, for example, is now at its lowest point in 20 years. Excruciatingly expensive trains can barely make their way at anemic paces along the northeast corridor without breaking down, and we’ve all but abandoned talk of expanding to real high-speed trains. In the past month alone two bridges collapsed — in Washington State and Minnesota — and countless others desperately need repairs. The American Society of Civil Engineers gave this country’s bridges a C+ rating for 2013.
So what else could we do with the $30 billion? By way of comparison, here’s how much a few other long-suffering projects in this country have cost:
$3.2 Billion: Washington’s State’s Columbia River Project, which would replace another of the state’s aging major bridges
$4.5 Billion: The first phase of New York City’s long-derailed Second Avenue Subway line
$6.4 Billion: The replacement span of the San Francisco Bay Area’s Bay Bridge
$20 Billion: What the American Society of Civil Engineers says it will cost per year over the next decade to repair our nation’s bridges
When Republicans start agitating to pay for safer bridges and better roads — that will be the real news. But on matters like these, they have been comparatively, if predictably, silent. They are focusing more on keeping others out than worrying about the Americans who are already here. But the real problem is their plan itself: border enforcement isn’t solving the problem. If our leaders really think an influx of agents and drones is finally going to keep out people who will risk their lives to come here, I’ve got a bridge to sell them.

Sheep-eating plant
Sheep-eating plant, A towering South American plant that is believed to kill animals with its spikes and use their decaying bodies as fertilizer is about to bloom in England.
A rare Puya chilensis was planted at a greenhouse in Surrey about 15 years ago. However, despite its intimidating description, the tall, spiked plant is considered a threatened species.
The Royal Horticultural Society at Wisley has been feeding the plant a diet of liquid fertilizer. “In its natural habitat in the Andes it uses its razor sharp spines to snare and trap sheep and other animals, which slowly starve to death and decay at the base of the plant, providing it with the grizzly equivalent of a bag of fertiliser,” reads a description on the RHS website, which adds that the plant emits a “gruesome scent.”
But does the plant actually trap and eat sheep? Other sources have simply said it is “believed” that the plant traps small animals with its spikes. After the animals die of starvation, the plant is "believed" to then use their decaying bodies as fertilizer to feed itself.
"I'm really pleased that we've finally coaxed our Puya chilensis into flower," horticulturalist Cara Smith said in a press release on the RHS site.
Regardless of whether it actually traps sheep, the plant does have sharp spikes that can grow up to 12 feet high and 5 feet wide. However, it’s not all death and danger for this plant. Its flowery blooms reportedly provide nectar for bees and birds.
The Puya chilensis blooms annually in its native land of Chile, but this is the first time it has done so after more than a decade of cultivation efforts from the RHS.
"We keep it well fed with liquid fertiliser as feeding it on its natural diet might prove a bit problematic,” Smith said.
"It's growing in the arid section of our glasshouse with its deadly spines well out of reach of both children and sheep alike."

Italy earthquake
Italy earthquake, A magnitude 5.2 earthquake was felt across central and northern Italy on Friday, causing some minor damage in rural areas but there were no immediate reports of injuries.
The epicentre of the quake, which hit at about 12:33 p.m. (6.33 a.m. EDT) was between the towns of Massa and Lucca in Tuscany and La Spezia in the Liguria region, the national geophysics institute said.
The tremor was felt in Milan, the largest city in northern Italy, and as far north as the Friuli region near the border with Slovenia.
The mayor of Casola in Lunigiana, a small town in the Tuscan countryside, told Italian television the quake had caused cracks in some old buildings and minor collapses but there were no reports of injuries.
Aftershocks continued to rock the area, some as strong as magnitude 4.0, officials said, adding that residents in some rural areas were advised to stay out of their homes for the time being.
The last major earthquake to hit Italy struck in May, 2012 in the central Emilia Romagna region. That quake measured 6.0 magnitude and killed more than 20 people, destroyed historic buildings and caused widespread damage to local industries.

Obama Catholic schools
Obama Catholic schools, Belfast, Ireland – Multiple media publications are saying that President Obama may have passively-aggressively insulted Catholic schools during a keynote address at the Waterfront Hall in Northern Ireland on Thursday.
These remarks, delivered to a group of teenagers during a townhall-style meet, seem to be sparking the most controversy:
“Because issues like segregated schools and housing, lack of jobs and opportunity — symbols of history that are a source of pride for some and pain for others — these are not tangential to peace; they’re essential to it. If towns remain divided — if Catholics have their schools and buildings, and Protestants have theirs — if we can’t see ourselves in one another, if fear or resentment are allowed to harden, that encourages division. It discourages cooperation.”
Ironically, the group he was addressing were a mix of Catholic and Protestant students.
President Obama’s Catholic School comments didn’t take right away, but a few opinion pieces have popped up slamming the POTUS for what is perceived as his sentiment that Catholic and Protestant education are, by their very nature, divisive.
For TownHall.com, Carol Platt Liebau wrote:
“Of course, it’s ironic that the most divisive president in American history should go to Ireland and condemn division. But it also raises questions: Does this signal hostility to Catholic education in America — or hostility to religious education in general? It’s clear — from his Obamacare abortifacient/contraceptive mandate to his efforts to cut charitable deductions – that the president sees government as the only really legitimate actor in civil society. But his willingness to characterize education by religious orders as enabling division and discord is an unpleasant reminder of his hostility to any social force with potential to check the power of Big Government.”
But for the L.A. Times, Michael McGough, an admitted “grateful product of 12 years of Catholic education,” poured cold water on the nerves made raw by Obama’s Catholic School comments.
“Context matters here. Northern Ireland is not the United States. Even in my childhood, when Catholic kids were encouraged to attend Catholic schools and there was an arguably Protestant ethos in many public schools, Catholics and Protestants weren’t as isolated from (or as distrustful of) one another in this country as they continue to be in Northern Ireland.”
He concludes, “As for the notion that Obama is hostile to private schools with a religious character, that seems unlikely. His own children attend the Sidwell Friends School, a Quaker institution.”

Lake Powell accident
Lake Powell accident, One woman is dead and two more are missing after a boat accident on Lake Powell.
According to KSL, a motorboat and a houseboat collided on Lake Powell on Thursday. A 57-year-old woman who was sitting in the front of the motorboat was killed in the crash. Two other women, ages 29 and 22, are missing and presumed dead.
Rescue workers transported two people, including an 11-year-old girl, to a nearby hospital in Flagstaff, Arizona via helicopter. Kane County Sheriff’s Sgt. Alan Alldredge said that both of the passengers were conscious and did not suffer life threatening injuries.
Alldredge said that the accident occurred in a channel of the lake that is a “couple hundred” yards wide. It is unclear what caused the accident but Alldredge said that Lake Powell can get very crowded at this time of year.
Alldredge said: “This time of year, the lake can get busy and these kinds of accidents, even though they’re not rare, they do have a great potential for happening out there.”
Alldredge said that another person was taken to a hospital in Page, Arizona while the other people involved in the Lake Powell accident were brought back to the Wahweap Marina.
Thirteen people were on the motorboat during the crash. It is unclear how many people were on the houseboat but Alldredge said that no one on the houseboat was injured.

UFO Britain
UFO Britain, But in the end it was not aliens which overwhelmed the Ministry of Defence’s UFO unit but a rather more mundane tormentor - Chinese lanterns.
Newly released files from the National Archives reveal how the department, part of the RAF, was closed after becoming inundated with reports from the public about the flying flammable devices which have become popular at weddings and parties.
The year the “UFO Desk” was shut down, in 2009, it received its second highest number of sightings on record.
By November, when it closed, it had had 643 reports, treble the number of the previous year (208), and far higher than over the first seven years of the decade, when annual sightings were a relatively stable 150.
It was beaten only by 1978, when the release of the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind led to a surge in interest - and 750 sightings.
The files show how officials put the increase down to the spread of Chinese lanterns, which grew in popularity over the period. Dr David Clarke, a Sheffield Hallam academic and the National Archives consultant on the UFO files, said that around two thirds of reports from 2009 could relatively easily be put down to Chinese lanterns.
Such sightings were often reported as formations of orange lights, often filmed on mobile phones and video cameras. The reports tended to cluster around the summer months, often by people outdoors walking dogs, smoking cigarettes, enjoying family barbecues - or even relaxing in hot-tubs.
In one case, a group of soldiers from the Royal Irish Regiment on duty at Tern Hill barracks, near Market Drayton, Shropshire, reported seeing mysterious objects flying overhead.
One soldier filmed what was described as “lots of multi-coloured dots”. They were later found to be Chinese lanterns released from a wedding at a nearby hotel.
In a briefing before the unit was closed, Bob Ainsworth, the then defence secretary, was told that the “upsurge” in sighings had begun to make the workload unmaneageable for the unit.
Carl Mantell of the RAF’s Air Command recommended that the department “should seek to reduce very significantly the UFO task which is consuming increasing resource, but produces no valuable defence output.”
Mr Ainsworth was told that in more than 50 years, “no UFO sighting reported to [MoD] has ever revealed anything to suggest an extra-terrestrial presence or military threat to the UK” and “there is no defence benefit in [MoD] recording, collating, analysing or investigating UFO sightings.”
The MoD argued that sightings - even from reliable sources - served no useful purpose and diverted air defence specialists from their main tasks.
The documents are among 25 files released by the National Archives today, relating to sightings of UFOs reported to the Ministry of Defence from 2007 to 2009.
It is the tenth and final release of information collected by the Government on the subject since 1967. Before then, such files were destroyed after five years.
They contain correspondence with members of the public and ministers, as well as sighting reports.
Among other highlights include:
• A "near collision" between a police helicopter and a UFO over Birmingham city centre which was investigated - but not solved - by the UK Airprox Board, the official body which looks into “near misses”.
• An account from a retired RAF Flight lieutenant who witnessed the tracking of a UFO on airfield radar at RAF Lyneham - a phenomena also sighted visually by two airmen on the ground.
• a sketch of a UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon) spotted from the ground as it appeared to cross the path of an airliner near Portsmouth, in December 2007. This sighting was referred to MoD by a NATO official. An investigation concluded the UFO could be a light aircraft.
• a UFO seen hovering near the Houses of Parliament.
The UFO desk, based in Whitehall before moving to RAF High Wycombe, collected reports and information from the public, as well as other agencies, such as the police and air traffic authorities.
The desk had a dedicated telephone hotline and email address for sightings, which were created to improve communications with the public following a surge in UFO interest at the time of the 50th anniversary of the Roswell Incident - a supposed in 1997.
Dr Clarke said: “The last pieces of the puzzle have finally been revealed with this insight into the last days of the UFO desk. These files spell out clearly why the MoD decided - after 60 years - it no longer needed to keep tabs on sightings, even those made by ‘credible’ people such as police officers and pilots. The last files from the UFO desk are now all in the public domain. People at home can read them and draw their own conclusions about whether ‘the truth’ is in these files or still out there.”
The latest release of documents marks the end of a five year rolling disclosure programme of the UFO files.
In total 209 files and approximately 52,000 pages of information on unidentified objects in the sky, collected by the Ministry of Defence, have been made available to the public by the National Archives.

Carly Rae Jepsen
Carly Rae Jepsen, The 27-year-old pop star believes her fellow Canadian singer - who she shares a manager, Scooter Braun, with - is getting unfairly treated by the media and is doing well as a 19-year-old in the public eye.
Carly told Billboard magazine: "I actually am so out of the loop on any it. But people are constantly, like, 'Is Justin OK?' I've not really noticed any of that. I feel like Justin's a guy who's working hard every day, and I think the media can sometimes be a little brutal with stuff and over-exaggerate things. But I stand by him. I support him. I think he's a good guy, and he's doing the best he can."
Over the past few months Justin has hit the headlines after cannabis was allegedly found on his tour bus, he then annoyed his neighbours with unreasonable behaviour, has been accused of various driving offences and had his pet monkey quarantined in Germany.
Carly also reiterated her motivation for pulling out of a Boy Scouts of America concert over its anti-gay policy.
The 'Call Me Maybe' hitmaker was due to perform at the organisation's festival, the National Scout Jamboree, in July, but cancelled her appearance because the youth organisation doesn't allow gay scouts and leaders.
She said: "It's pretty simple; I believe in equality for everyone. I did not know that (the Jamboree) was going to be the big deal it became, but it just wasn't something I felt comfortable supporting. So I got out of it, and I'm hoping that moments like that do put a bit more light on that sort of subject, because it's something that shouldn't be an issue any longer. This sort of stuff needs to stop now."

Phaedra Bloom Forever
Phaedra Bloom Forever, The 24-year-old daughter of Sir Bob gave birth to her and husband Thomas Cohen’s second son on April 24 – the same birthday as her mother, Paula Yates.
And in her first photoshoot with their little bundle of joy – whose full name is Phaedra Bloom Forever – she admitted they wanted to give him a quirky name.
‘I wouldn’t be a Geldof if I didn’t get stick in the press about my ridiculous choice of names,’ she joked. ‘I’ve got to uphold the family tradition.’
Explaining the reasoning behind her son’s name, she continued: ‘We chose Bloom because my middle name is Honeyblossom and also in homage to the Nirvana record In Bloom. Forever we chose purely because it sounds cool.
‘I love his name and think he sounds like a rock star. We liked Phaedra because it features in a song both Tom and I love by Lee Hazlewood, called Some Velvet Morning.
‘It’s nothing to do with some band called Tangerine Dream, as has been reported. I’ve never heard them.’
And despite Phaedra being born on such a special day for Peaches, she insists it wasn’t planned.
‘It wasn’t an option. Maybe it is if you go private, but we didn’t and were given the date randomly by a consultant,’ Peaches added to Hello! magazine.
‘I was pretty amazed when I read it though, and had to smile. I couldn’t help feeling Mum must have had a hand in it.’
Peaches married Cohen, 22, last summer and gave birth to their now 13-month-old son Astala last April.Astala was also due on April 24 but as Peaches had a Caesarean, his birth date was brought forward.
‘It’s like mum was very determined that one of her grandsons would be born on her birthday,’ Peaches added.
Paula died from a drug overdose in 2000 when she was 41. Peaches was just 11.

The Edge daughter
The Edge daughter, The wife of U2 star The Edge has described for the first time the "hell" the couple endured after their daughter was diagnosed with leukaemia.
The rocker's partner Morleigh Steinberg admits she was devastated when doctors told her that Sian, now 13 years old, had the life-threatening illness in 2006.
Steinberg says, "You're in shock then you just go into survival mode. The whole thing is hell but at the same time you stay positive and you really live. You live more because you don't want to take anything for granted."
The Beautiful Day hitmakers postponed a string of dates on their Vertigo tour after the guitarist, real name David Evans, received the news.
He took his daughter to receive treatment in Los Angeles and Dublin, Ireland and she has now made a good recovery.
Steinberg adds: "She's through it and she's fine."

Ben and Diane Davis thought the baby was a girl until the very last day
Ben and Diane Davis thought the baby was a girl until the very last day, Nicki Sterling was sent home to Texas after falling in love – and spending the night in the fantasy suite – with The Bachelor's Ben Flajnik.
Calling from the Lone Star State this week, the 26-year-old dental hygienist says she's "still in the process of completely getting over everything," and has plenty to say about skinny-dipping, her elimination and the final two.
You seemed shocked not to get a rose.
I was blindsided. Each time we were together, I felt more confident. It's hard to say who I thought was going home. I just did not think it would be me.
What went wrong?
It boils down to him having stronger feelings for two other women. Hearing him refer to me as the "dark horse" lets me know he enjoyed my company in the beginning but didn't have a strong connection until the end. I probably had stronger feelings for him sooner than he had for me.
Some people blame the fact that you had less solo time with Ben than the final two women.
The time we spent together, although short, was very meaningful and enough to know what we had was really good. I looked at it as a compliment. He didn't need extra time to figure out that he wanted me around.
The show's host Chris Harrison thought the problem was that your relationship with Ben was immature.
I love Chris but I don't agree. Our relationship was really mature. We talked about important things, had intense conversations. He had a good grasp on my past.
I wasn't one to beg him for reassurance. I tried to make moments meaningful yet playful. Those two things are important in a relationship.
Did you get closure?
I heard what I needed to get closure. I didn't need to hear nice things to be okay with leaving or with myself. I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason.
Was your family disappointed it didn't work out?
They were worried. I was going through heartbreak. Their biggest fear was that I wouldn't get back on my feet. But once they saw me transition back to my daily routine, they look at it as a learning experience.
They would have loved for it to work. They enjoyed the time spent with him. They wouldn't have given their blessing if they didn't.
Has your opinion of him changed as you watch the season?
He's a great person. I would never say a bad word.
Not even after seeing the skinny-dipping scene with Courtney Robertson.
It stung a lot to see that knowing that was the same week we had our first real moments together. I wish he would have said, 'Not a good idea. The girls will be upset.' But he's a 29-year-old guy being seduced by one of the most attractive women on earth. I can't fault him in the moment.
She worked her magic. I don't know any other guys who would have done anything differently in the same situation.
Do you regret badmouthing Courtney to Ben?
I don't regret warning him in the least. If he ended up hurt and I hadn't said something, I'd somehow take the blame.
Did you buy her apologies?
I didn't buy it at all. I didn't believe her tears. It looks as though she realized her chance of making it to the end might be hindered by how she treated other people so she started to backpedal. The Courtney that I got to know wasn't sincere in that manner.
Do you buy that she loved him?
No. She gained a lot from this experience. He was a prize instead of soul mate in her eyes.
Who should he choose?
I see him with Lindzi more. She's very laid back, easygoing. Their senses of humor are very compatible. She was there for him, was open and honest and I could see it lasting.
Rumor has it the relationship is already over.
If Courtney was chosen, I'm not surprised at all. I don't see how Ben could watch the season and not be extremely upset and disappointed with her. He's being fooled.
Are you over him? Dating again?
Not completely. It's hard to fall for somebody that doesn't fall back. The idea of dating hasn't crossed my mind since I left Switzerland.
It's been a good time for me. I've been working, hanging out with friends, focusing on myself and trying to get back to that strong confident place I was at before I left for the show. It's going to take a while to put myself out there 100 percent like on the show. I'm confident it will happen. I'm just not in any hurry.

Baby named New Folder
Baby named New Folder, A couple from Houston, Texas, has given their newborn baby the temporary name “New Folder” until they can think of something better, The Global Edition finds out.
Ben and Diane Davis could not come to an agreement on what to name their newborn son, so they decided not to rush anything or make any hasty decisions they would later come to regret.
“We just haven’t been able to find a male name that both Diane and I like equally” Mr. Davis said. “Until the very last day we thought the baby would be a girl, but when the doctor told us it was going to be a boy, we were completely stunned and unprepared,” the new father added.
The Davis couple, who own a web developing firm, told our reporters that they were close to naming their son Dennis, but quickly figured out how stupid that name really sounds.
As 30 days is the legal deadline to give your child a name before the state does it for you, the young couple said that they will surely come up with a better name for their kid in the meantime, and if they don’t, they can always name him “Son.1″.

Lincoln Bell Shepard
Lincoln Bell Shepard, New mom Kristen Bell loves her plunge into parenthood. The "Veronica Mars" star, 32, who gave birth to daughter Lincoln on March 28, dished on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that her new role as Mommy has been great.
Motherhood, Bell dished, is "actually better than I expected. It's pretty wonderful, yeah." But unlike many celebrity mothers, Bell and husband Dax Shepherd aren't eager to share photos of little Lincoln.
We're not quite positive that she wants to be a public figure yet, so we're going to leave that up to her," Bell said. "If she wants to, she can do a bunch of selfies.
Who cares? But we're just going to make that decision for her." In lieu of a shot of the infant, Ellen showed the audience a picture of Bell's favorite animal: a baby sloth. That's strikingly close to what she looks like," Bell joked.
The actress also dished on baby daddy Shepherd. "It's like he's just made a new best friend," she said. "He talks to her all day and sings to her all day.

Kristen Bell daughter, Finally, baby Lincoln's debut! After welcoming their first child on March 28, Kristen Bell and fiance Dax Shepard were photographed for the first time stepping out with their baby girl on Thursday, May 30.
The new parents were spotted taking little Lincoln to a doctor's appointment together in Beverly Hills. Dad Shepard, 38, carried his adorable daughter
Bell, 32, following closely behind, showed off her post-baby body in tight skinny jeans and a blue polka-dot, button-up blouse. The busy mom had her arms full juggling a water bottle, handbag and phone, but looked stylish in tall wedge sandals and colorful shades.
The funny couple, engaged since 2009, announced Lincoln's birth to their fans on Twitter. "My new roommate poops her pants and doesn't pay rent . . . basically Dax Shepard pre-sobriety," the Veronica Mars actress joked. "Welcome baby Lincoln."
Since Lincoln's arrival, the family has been keeping a low profile. On April 5, Shepard made his first venture outside their house -- and it was quite the experience. "After 8 days at home with LBS, my afternoon trip to Costco felt like [a] late night rager at a strip club," the Parenthood actor joked on Twitter. "Buy in bulk party."

Lori and Vardit Adler other kids named Pie and the Hebrew word for Honey
Lori and Vardit Adler other kids named Pie and the Hebrew word for Honey, In “The Seven” episode of Seinfeld, George tells his fiancée Susan that if they have a child – a boy or a girl – he’d like to name it “Seven,” after Mickey Mantle’s jersey number.
Now, in real life, Israeli couple Lior and Vardit Adler are taking after George and naming their new daughter with a quotidian word: “like.” The inspiration for the name comes from the “like” feature on Facebook, although the name is not intended to be an ad for the social networking site.
“We named her Like because it’s modern and innovative…I checked that the name does not exist elsewhere in the country; that was the main condition for me,” said Mr. Adler.
I wonder if the Adlers are familiar with Seinfeld, because their two other children also have unusual names, too. Because they like cooking, the couple named their other kids “Pie” and “Vash” (the Hebrew word for honey).
Not surprisingly, the Adlers announced the birth of their baby on Facebook.
“When I posted her picture and name on Facebook I got 40 ‘likes,’” Mr. Adler said. “Considering that I have only a little more than 100 friends on the network that’s a lot.”
I imagine that the initial reaction to a name like Like would entail skepticism and even distaste. However, if Seinfeld‘s social commentary and relevance to real life is as uncanny here as it is with many other episodes, maybe the name will catch on.

Baby named Like
Baby named Like, According to TMZ.com and People.com, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have named their newborn daughter North West.
Still no official confirmation via the Kardashians themselves, but they're known for their ability to manipulate the media and we're sure they'll make an announcement when they see fit.
For those somehow unaware, Kardashian gave birth to her daughter on Saturday; she has not been spotted in, or out, of the hospital since then, although friends have stopped by and Tweeted their well-wishes.
E! reports that Kim, Kanye and the baby — whose nickname is "Nori" — left the hospital "overnight Thursday" and are heading to "an undisclosed L.A. home."
But the family has stayed mostly silent about the birth, with matriarch Kris Jenner only commenting on the appearance of the child.
Splash News honcho Gary Morgan predicts that in about a month, we'll see the first photo of North West, who was born ahead of her due date. "We'll see a big magazine set-up, nice and glossy," he says.
UPDATE:
Things are looking more and more official in the moniker department. TMZ has posted an image of what it says is Baby North's birth certificate. And if legit, it looks like North is only headed West — that is, she has no middle name.
The document, filed in Los Angeles County, features only Kim's signature and reveals that her daughter was born at 5:34 a.m. on June 15.

Lior and Vardit Adler baby
Lior and Vardit Adler baby, First there was baby "Facebook" and now this: an Israeli couple has named their kid "Like." Let the Valley Girl jokes ensue.
The Israeli news source Galgalatz reports that Lior and Vardit Adler are the proud parents of a bouncing baby girl named after the Facebook Like button, which recently celebrated its first birthday.
Apparently, the parents were looking to call their daughter something unique. The moniker is not meant to be a gimmick, and they say that they're not shilling for Facebook. They just like (pun intended) the meaning behind the name.
The Adlers are hardly the first people to saddle their kid with a suspect name. One man offered to name his son Batman if he could get 500,000 people to become fans of his Facebook Page, and another couple named their child Facebook in honor of the role the social network played in the revolution in Egypt.
Granted, naming your child something unusual is not relegated to the realm of social media — apparently "Brooklyn" is an extremely popular name — but the name choice certainly is out there.

Bryan adams photography exhibition 2013
Bryan adams photography exhibition 2013, He is undoubtedly an outstanding musician and composer. But that Bryan Adams is also a gifted photographer is not (as yet) widely known. In addition to his passion for music, his love of art—and of photography in particular—has grown over the past few decades. With the exhibition Bryan Adams – Exposed, the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf will show a comprehensive cross-section of the Canadian’s best works. This will be the first time this collections goes on display in Germany.
Bryan Adams has this to say about his photographic work: ‘I think if you always do the same thing every day, you can get tired of it. So if you change your scenario once in a while, and get back to what you were doing before, you see it in a fresh light.’
‘I took my first photos with a small camera that belonged to my parents,’ says Adams when asked about the genesis of his passion for photography. ‘The subjects of my first film, in the mid 1970s, were concert photos of the Beach Boys, parking lot walls, my girlfriend in the bathroom, my Mom, my piano, just everyday things, but exactly the things I could see around me.’ Over the years, the subjects of Adams’ photos changed. Numerous friends, celebrities, and super stars posed for him including Amy Winehouse, Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Ben Kingsley, Mickey Rourke in the bathtub, or Dustin Hoffman wearing a suit and fishing in the sea. In 2002, on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II’s golden jubilee, he was selected to make a portrait of the queen. The resulting photo later appeared on a Canadian stamp.
Bryan Adams is certainly not the first musician to live out his creativity in the fine arts or in photography: people like Don van Vliet (aka Captain Beefheart), Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, or Bryan Ferry all spring to mind. As Sir Elton John points out in his foreword to the exhibition catalogue, the fact that Adams has direct access to many well-known personalities and icons of the music, film, and celebrity scene make his portraits highly intimate, intense studies, some of which are themselves photographic icons in their own right.
The exhibition includes about 150 of these impressive artists’ portraits and also a completely new series of work that is very dear to Bryan Adams’ heart: portraits of injured soldiers returning from tours of duty abroad. Bryan Adams has had the unique opportunity of photographing British servicemen who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan and paid a heavy price. The images are raw and provocative and show that despite the appalling injuries of these soldiers, life goes on. Through the lens Adams tells the story of their extraordinary courage, defiance and humour. These modern day heroes celebrate their service and survival and demonstrate their incredible resolve in this startling series of portrait photographs. They are proud portraits of inspiring men who whilst not faltering have stood the test of war, and lived to tell the tale.
Bryan Adams is co-publisher of Zoo Magazine, a magazine for photography, which he founded in Berlin in 2004. In 2012, he was presented with the Lead Award for fashion story of the year for his portraits of the artist Hon Daphne Guiness. This is the second time that he has won this award.
Bryan Adams was born in Kingston/Ontario, Canada, on 5 November 1959. He is one of the most successful contemporary rock singers and composers with a string of No. 1 hits around the world to his name such as ‘Summer of ‘69’ and ‘Everything I Do, I Do It For You’. A tireless performer, he is on stage over 100 times a year. Bryan Adams lives in London.

Natalie Portman scored in 1400s on SAT
Natalie Portman scored in 1400s on SAT, Natalie Portman isn’t just a pretty face in Hollywood, although most people would agree that the tiny starlet is quite beautiful. But her beauty isn’t her only asset; Portman is incredibly smart, as well, with an SAT score that’s rumored to be in the 1400s.
She takes education so seriously, in fact, that she skipped the premiere of her film, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace to study for high school final exams. She even graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor’s in psychology, fully acknowledging that school might have an adverse affect on her career, but not really caring.
“I don’t care if [college] ruins my career. I’d rather be smart than a movie star,” she said. Portman has even shown interest in postgraduate work, taking graduate courses at the Hebrew University of Journalism, guest lecturing at Columbia University, and co-authoring research papers that appeared in scientific journals.

Sun Microsystems, along with companies such as Apple Inc., Silicon Graphics, 3Com, and Oracle Corporation, was part of a wave of successful startup companies in California’s Silicon Valley during the early and mid-1980s. In 1982, McNealy, who was then manufacturing director at Onyx Systems, a vendor of microprocessor-based Unix systems, was approached by fellow Stanford alumnus Vinod Khosla to help provide the necessary organizational and business leadership for the fledgling company. The name “Sun” was derived from Bechtolsheim’s original SUN (Stanford University Network) computer project, the SUN workstation.
In 1984, McNealy took over the CEO role from Khosla, who would ultimately leave the company in 1985. On April 24, 2006, McNealy stepped down as CEO after serving in that position for 22 years, and turned the job over to Jonathan Schwartz. McNealy is one of the few CEOs of a major corporation to have had a tenure of over twenty years.
Unlike most people who become involved in high technology industries, Scott McNealy did not come from the world of amateur programmers, hackers, and computer scientists. Instead, his background was in business, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Prior to college, he graduated from Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where his father was in the automotive industry; most of his work experience prior to joining Sun was in automotive manufacturing.

Stephen King scored in the 1300s SAT
Stephen King scored in the 1300s SAT, Famous horror author Stephen King and television host Meredith Vieira, of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and The Today Show, both scored in the 1300s on their SATs. In the same range is former vice-president Al Gore, who got a score of 1355.
Gore’s opponent in the 2000 election, then-President George W. Bush, famously scored a 1206 on his SATs. His challenger in 2004, Secretary of State John Kerry, scored a bit lower, earning an 1190. Bush and Kerry submitted these scores to the school they both attended: Yale University.
King’s father, Donald Edwin King, who was born circa 1913 in Peru, Indiana, was a merchant seaman. King’s mother, Nellie Ruth (née Pillsbury; March 13, 1913 – December 28, 1973) was born in Scarborough, Maine. They were married July 23, 1939, in Cumberland County, Maine.
Stephen Edwin King was born September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine. When King was two years old, his father left the family under the pretense of “going to buy a pack of cigarettes”, leaving his mother to raise King and his adopted older brother, David, by herself, sometimes under great financial strain. The family moved to De Pere, Wisconsin, Fort Wayne, Indiana and Stratford, Connecticut. When King was eleven years old, the family returned to Durham, Maine, where Ruth King cared for her parents until their deaths. She then became a caregiver in a local residential facility for the mentally challenged. King was raised Methodist.
As a child, King apparently witnessed one of his friends being struck and killed by a train, though he has no memory of the event. His family told him that after leaving home to play with the boy, King returned, speechless and seemingly in shock. Only later did the family learn of the friend’s death. Some commentators have suggested that this event may have psychologically inspired some of King’s darker works, but King makes no mention of it in his memoir On Writing.
King’s primary inspiration for writing horror fiction was related in detail in his 1981 non-fiction Danse Macabre, in a chapter titled “An Annoying Autobiographical Pause”. King makes a comparison of his uncle’s successfully dowsing for water using the bough of an apple branch with the sudden realization of what he wanted to do for a living. While browsing through an attic with his elder brother, King uncovered a paperback version of an H. P. Lovecraft collection of short stories entitled The Lurker in the Shadows that had belonged to his father. The cover art-an illustration of a yellow-green Demon hiding within the recesses of a Hellish cavern beneath a tombstone-was, he writes, the moment in his life which “that interior dowsing rod responded to.” King told Barnes & Noble Studios during a 2009 interview, “I knew that I’d found home when I read that book.”
King attended Durham Elementary School and graduated from Lisbon Falls High School, in Lisbon Falls, Maine. He displayed an early interest in horror as an avid reader of EC’s horror comics, including Tales from the Crypt (he later paid tribute to the comics in his screenplay for Creepshow). He began writing for fun while still in school, contributing articles to Dave’s Rag, the newspaper that his brother published with a mimeograph machine, and later began selling stories to his friends which were based on movies he had seen (though when discovered by his teachers, he was forced to return the profits). The first of his stories to be independently published was “I Was a Teenage Grave Robber”, serialized over three published and one unpublished issue of a fanzine, Comics Review, in 1965. That story was published the following year in a revised form as “In a Half-World of Terror” in another fanzine, Stories of Suspense, edited by Marv Wolfman.

Kesha scored 1500 on SAT
Kesha scored 1500 on SAT, The holy savior of pop music, Ke$hus Chri$t, is on the current cover of Seventeen Magazine to promote her Platinum album Animal and it’s forthcoming re-release Cannibal. Seventeen were lucky enough to catch Ke$ha on one of the rare days that she wasn’t drunk or preoccupied sewing garbage bags together to create her next glamorous awards show dress, so they managed to get the 23-year-old to open up about a number of topics from being judged to her looks and much more.
Ke$ha on the different sides of her personality: “I think you can be this total maniac onstage and act like a complete idiot, but also be really respectful, really positive and smart. You don’t have to be just one thing.”
“I was this weird paradox of a person [in high school]. I was in the marching band, and I played music in a really cool punk band with the hot seniors, and I’d write bratty pop songs,” she says. But Ke$ha was also a certified genius, with an IQ over 140 and an SAT score of 1500. “I would drive to the local college and take classes on Cold War history, just for fun,” she admits.
On Animal being inspired by her first love: “He was my first love; he was my first everything. I was 18 when we met, and it was love at first sight. It was the most magical thing ever, and then we just went through the most crazy, loving, tumultuous relationship. Animal is pretty much a by-product of that relationship. We broke up about a year ago.”
Heartbreak inspiring her music: “I feel like you get an option to look at life in a positive or a negative way. If you listen to my record, I take a lot of negative situations and try to look at them in a funnier, positive way. I tried to turn being cheated on and being stabbed in the back into a funny song because I don’t want to spend my life wallowing in self-pity and I don’t want to spend my life being insecure.”
On being suddenly wealthy and fending off the haters: “I honestly haven’t bought myself anything [she still lives in her mothers basement in Tennessee]. I like to spend a lot of money on my live show and on my instruments. I really just want to invest in my fans, my show, my songs and my music; I live and die for my music. I do it for the kids who enjoy it, not the haters, not the critics, not the cynics. It’s all for the kids who just want to be positive and want to be fun — it’s for the kids who get it.”
On her looks: “Hell, No!” she says when asked if she’s always been confident about her looks. “I still sometimes want to crawl under a rock. But it’s just a shell. You have to work with what you’ve got. I’m tall and I never considered myself hot. But I’ve got a good sense of humor, so I was like, “Well, I’m not hot, but I might as well be funny!”
On being judged and misunderstood: “I’m really fun and I’m really carefree, and I feel like I’m really positive. But I also have been in love and had my heart broken. I think there are misconceptions about me and my personality because I am mouthy and say what I want and do exactly what I want to when I want to. But I think that’s a positive thing.”
On proving herself to the world: “I accidentally read a review, and it was really positive, but at the end it said, ‘We don’t really know if she has the best voice.’ Which is bullshit! That’s the one thing I’m most confident about. I don’t have the best body in the world, but I know for a fact that I have a really good voice. It really bummed me out that somebody didn’t see that, and then I got upset. But it just made me realize that this is an unveiling process; it’s just going to take time. I’m proving myself to people.”
On creating a youth movement: “I feel like my music is a celebration of life in all its imperfections. Life doesn’t have to be cookie-cutter perfect, neither does your style, your makeup, your clothes — nothing has to be ‘perfect’. I know it’s ambitious, but I really would love it if what I’m doing was not just an album, but also more of a youth movement for really accepting who you are unapologetically and really loving yourself for every imperfection.”
So wise!
Ke$ha will be one step closer to her “youth movement” goal if her empowering new single “We R Who We R” takes off, and all early signs indicate that it will. It’s already blowing up on radio, and is already out-performing Pink’s new single “Raise Your Glass” on Top Forty radio with over 100 more spins and four times as many adds. It’s also received over 4 million views on it’s official Youtube channel in less than two weeks. “We R Who We R” will be available for digital purchase from October 26th.
You can check out Ke$ha’s official Seventeen magazine photoshoot below, and also read her full interview over at Ke$ha-Daily.
