Zimmerman riots: 'The Wire' creator is 'ashamed' of America; Roddy White tweet

Zimmerman riots: 'The Wire' creator is 'ashamed' of America; Roddy White tweet, It has been almost five full days since the George Zimmerman verdict of "not guilty" was handed down in the killing of Trayvon Martin, and controversy is still coming down. As of late on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, "Zimmerman riots" and "Roddy White tweet" are trending, and the creator of one of the most popular televisions shows is "ashamed" to be an American.

Yahoo TV reported on July 16, 2013, that David Simon, creator of "The Wire," was just as outraged by the Zimmerman verdict as anyone. He even got on his blog and went as far as to say that he was "ashamed to call himself an American."

"I can't look an African-American parent in the eye for thinking about what they must tell their sons about what can happen to them on the streets of their country. Tonight, anyone who truly understands what justice is and what it requires of a society is ashamed to call himself an American."

The other day, the phrase "Trayvon riots" was trending and it sparked real riots in Oakland, California, and fake riot videos to land online. Now, with "Zimmerman riots" trending, there is more going on, but most of the protests are trying to stay calm and non-violent.

At least 13 people were arrested out in Los Angeles overnight on Monday due to some fighting and rocks being thrown. Around the country, many peaceful protests did go down, but police are making sure that everyone knows violence and destruction will not be tolerated.

Speaking of not tolerating things; Atlanta Falcons' wide receiver Roddy White may have realized that his tweet telling the Zimmerman jurors to go home and "kill themselves" may have been a bit much. His words came almost immediately after the verdict was read this past weekend.

Roddy White never did take down the tweet, but probably realized it was in his best interest to at least apologize. The same happened with others that posted tweets which were a bit detailed.

This whole issue is far from over and appears it may only escalate from here.
